No modifications allowed. I offered to pay for the rental in advance. They said it was too late, since I had to do that when I first booked it. I have never experienced a rental car company so hostile to their own customers. Tip for consumers: They do not allow modifications to their rentals. My travel was delayed by one day. I had a 3 week rental. My options were to take the rental on the day they wanted or cancel the whole reservation and book a new one at nearly twice the price.
Sometimes travel plans change, and this company just doesn't care. We rented a car through them, and upon arrival the rental company not only did not have our booking but had no cars available. I managed to get in touch with carrentals. They kept going around in circles, needing to confirm that they did infact have no booking and had no cars. But the consultant had such a terrible phone line they people could not hear her.
I tried through my phone, same thing. Instead of getting on another line she just kept trying. Eventually she got the message that this was not working. Then she said she would make a plan. I have had to follow up every other day to get anything to move. Now I am having to email each morning and try the chat service each afternoon. Car rentals confirmed "pay at pick up" and "pre-paid", even it was booked as "pay at pick up" only. Economy surely took it as pre paid, collected the money and refused to cancel because of a bookings error at car rentals. After long discussions Economy supposed to refund - USD but never did. This is very bad business behavior on both sides. Car Rentals should have insisted with economy that there was a booking error on the car rentals side and the booking needs to be corrected to "Pay at pick up".
I strongly advise not to book through the car rentals portal and not to use Economy no customer service, just money greed. Tip for consumers: Don't get tricked into pre paid bookings. Better to book directly with a serious car rental company and not a portal.
The worst customer service I have ever experienced. They actually stole my money. The manager I spoke to made no sense whatsoever. It sounded like he was reading off a script the entire time.
I shop multiple sites when I rent a car. Of them, Carrentals has a good selection, like most travel sites, but I find better pricing elsewhere at places such as Hotwire. I'll look at these guys anyway just to make sure that I've found the best deal, but invariably I do better on other car rental sites. So far, it's a scam. I paid them then had to pay again 2x the amount at the rental pickup. Back in the days they were my favorite website, they were the best, I didn't use anything else. But not anymore, they just joined the scammers and become of of them.
