What is the screw on bottom of carburetor? What is the screw on a carburetor for? How do I know if my carburetor is running rich? What causes rich fuel mixture? I have had the carb apart and the float valve looks in good condition.
The floats also move freely and everything seems to be ok. I have also checked the float height and thats fine as well. What else could it be? N Dentressangle 3, posts months. It can only really be the needle valve, can't it? They can look fine and still leak. I've occasionally managed to fix them with fine sandpaper to the needle to remove the groove, but really you sound like you need a carb rebuild kit with new needle valve.
It'll be worth the money - worn and knackered carbs are a real PITA. Its now somehow sorted! Stripped the carb down again, checked everything and noticed the overflow pipe was very close to the float and causing it to rub slightly so i bent it out of the way. Finally i drained the crud out of the tank and refilled with fresh petrol. Plugged it all back in, fuel tap on, no leak!
Started up and ran the engine for a while with a few revs and stopped again and it all seems to be ok.
